How to Get to Siargao: A Complete Guide

Siargao, the surfing capital of the Philippines, is an island paradise known for its pristine beaches, vibrant culture, and stunning landscapes. If you're planning a trip to this tropical haven, here's everything you need to know about getting to Siargao by air and sea.

By Air: The Fastest Way to Siargao

Siargao is served by Sayak Airport (IAO) in Del Carmen. You can fly directly to Siargao from Manila, Cebu, Davao, and Clark. Starting March 2025, all propeller plane flights will be relocated from NAIA to Clark International Airport (CRK), affecting some Manila departures. Book your flights early, especially during peak season (December to May), as availability is limited.

By Sea: An Alternative for Budget Travelers

If you prefer a scenic route, you can reach Siargao by ferry. This option takes longer but is budget-friendly.

  • From Surigao City: Regular ferries operate between Macapagal ferry terminal in Surigao City and Dapa in Siargao, with travel times ranging from 2 to 4 hours, depending on the type of ferry.
  • From Cebu: There are overnight ferries from Cebu to Surigao City, after which you can take a connecting ferry to Siargao.

Check 12Go for schedules, although there are other ferry options not listed.  You may go to the port directly in the morning and buy a ticket on the spot.  You will have regular boats from as early as 2am to 3pm going either way.

Plan Your Trip to Siargao

Whether you choose to fly or take the ferry, getting to Siargao is part of the adventure. With the upcoming relocation of propeller plane flights from NAIA to Clark, travelers should plan accordingly. Once you arrive, get ready to experience world-class surfing, breathtaking scenery, and the laid-back charm of Siargao.
